Tax Credit from Maryland Historical Trust for Maintaining Carderock Houses
Carderock residents can obtain a 20 per cent credit against state income tax through the Maryland Historical Trust (MHT) for expenditures to maintain their houses, including roof, skylight and window replacement, wood siding, new furnace and AC systems, and necessary plumbing or electrical upgrades.
Yes: window,..... roof ..... furnace replacement and more!
An MHT application must be approved before work commences. Completing the application is time consuming because a description of the work contemplated and photos of all interior rooms and the complete outside are necessary. After submittal it can take a month or more for approval.
Many thanks to Mary Lou Shannon who was instrumental in getting Carderock listed both in Maryland and nationally as an historic community. Also many thanks to Carderock resident John Karlik email@example.com who has offered his successful application for a new roof and 11 skylights as a guide for other Carderock residents.
